Comets
Comets are very bright and can be seen in the night sky- but very rarely. These small bodies of the Solar System are located towards the extreme exterior of the Solar System and can be found either in the Oort Cloud or the Kuiper Belt.

The distance between comets is very small which is why they collide into each other. This impact leads to a change in direction due to which they are sometimes found in the inner circles of the Solar System.

Comets are best known for their beautiful tails which are very bright and mainly consist of ice and dust. Because

the centre of the Solar System has a high temperature, they melt and what is left behind is the tail. When this phenomenon occurs, these Solar System small bodies are clearly visible in the night sky and are referred to as shooting stars. The life span of comets is greatly reduced because of this flight.

Contrary to popular belief, if a spaceship was to hit the tail of a comet, the results would not be catastrophic. All you would see is dust particles or maybe, nothing at all. They are as dangerous as a ball of snow and as harmful as dust. That is, comets are completely risk-free.
